People are using their smartphone for more of their everyday needs than ever before. Where people once would only access bill paying or banking websites from their home computer, they are now performing these task from their cell phones. When people are asked why they choose their cell phone over a home computer the most common answers are ease of access, quicker access to information, they are mobile, cost less and privacy.

Ease of access is the main reason for this change. When a person wants to know information, it is easier and faster to get out their cell phones than it is to wait until they have access to a computer. As a society, we have become accustomed to getting what we want and getting it right now. This has created a generation of people that are impatient. Therefore, they are using their phones instead of waiting until they can access a computer.

The fact that cell phones provide quicker access to the needed and or wanted information has a direct effect on the popularity of cell phone internet usage. This ties in with how accessible cell phones are. When the information is right there in your phone why wait to get the information.

Cell phones make internet usage available mobile. Making the internet available anywhere that the cell phone has service. This is something that no computer can offer.

The cost of internet access via cell phones is cheaper than that of having internet on a computer. With any smartphone, it is included in the monthly fees. With other style phones, you pay as you use it. There are now companies make their discounts and coupons available from websites. Websites such as Groupon.com. These websites are the first place to look for discounts before making a purchase. Having access to these websites on the go helps consumers save even more money.

Cell phone usage has added a level of privacy to accessing the internet. The size of the screen on the cell phone hinders the view of what is being looked at. It is easy to quickly close the browser window or the entire phone before someone else can see it. Browser history and cookies are easier to clear and the information is a lot harder to recover than it is on a computer.

There may be reasons accessing the internet from a cell phone isn’t the best option. But these examples show why most people are using their cell phones over computers.
