CORSAIR Obsidian 1000D: Combined with the latest available technologies!

CORSAIR Obsidian 1000D

In March we witnessed a renewal of the various lines of CORSAIR houses started with the launch of the intriguing Obsidian 500D which was followed by that of Carbide 275R and, finally, that of the mammoth Obsidian 1000D, worthy successor of the 900D that since 2013 occupies the highest step of the offer.

Although it is a product of the highest level, the Obsidian 900D appears by now not being able to meet the current market demands oriented on homes equipped with tempered glass panels, RGB lighting and USB Type-C ports.

Here is the arrival of the new Super Tower Obsidian 1000D equipped with all the features currently in vogue and more …

The case retains the classic and clean style of its predecessor, offering, however, a balanced combination of tempered glass, brushed aluminum and a large amount of RGB LED lighting elements.

The new top of the range, in fact, is equipped with glass panels on the front, on the two sides and on the top, all equipped with aluminum inserts and generous air intakes to facilitate the disposal of hot air by the numerous fans provided.

CORSAIR Obsidian 1000D

Unlike the products of the competition, the two side panels are equipped with hinges that allow the door to open, instead of the classic system of fixing by screws, which makes it much easier to access the two side compartments reducing to zero the risks in case of removal.

Definitely rich I / O panel positioned on the front end of the top, featuring four USB 3.1 ports, two USB Type-C and the classic Audio HD.

Given the particular structure, the CORSAIR Obsidian 1000D has also been designed to offer a high cooling potential (both air and liquid) rather than to create configurations oriented purely to storage, a feature that, instead, distinguishes its predecessor, equipped with very high modularity thanks to a large number of removable drums for the drives as well as the functionality of Hot Swap on some of them.

The case offers the possibility to mount up to eight 120mm fans along the front panel (four on each side of an internal grid), three 140mm on the top and two 120 / 140mm on the back.

Lovers of liquid cooling can instead opt for the installation of two 480mm radiators on the front, one 420mm on the top and one 240mm on the back.

The presence of a large number of fans requires the movement of huge amounts of air, so you could not miss an efficient system of dust protection made by a dust filter on the top, one on the front and one in the power supply, all removable type to facilitate cleaning operations.

As for mainboard support, the Obsidian 1000D can host E-ATX cards and all smaller formats, but not HPTX and XL-ATX cards.

One of the most interesting peculiarities of the Obsidian 1000D, then, is the possibility of installing a second mainboard in Mini-ITX format on the casing placed to protect the power supply compartment and a second power supply in SFX-L format, so as to have two PCs inside the same houses.

Although not at the Ogesidian 900D levels, support for storage units is still excellent, with six 2.5 “settings placed on two” doors “placed in the compartment behind the mainboard, to which five are added. 3.5 “on a standard type basket.

Finally, to complete the rich endowment of this maximum weight, we have a CORSAIR Commander PRO, which is an advanced controller used to adjust the speed of the fans and the lighting system.

Below, as usual, we have reported the table of technical specifications of the product subject of our review today.
