SanDisk Extreme Go: The Best USB 3.1 Stick For High-End Daily Use!

SanDisk Extreme Go

I have scoured the Web far and wide, I bought dozens of cheap USB sticks, famous brands and incredible performances. In the end I came to a verdict: the SanDisk Extreme Go USB 3.1 64GB pendrive is still the best storage unit for intense daily use.

Are you looking for a relatively cheap USB stick that has everything you want from a high-end USB stick? Do you need excellent performance, data security features and an elegant design, but without going too high a price range? If so, SanDisk Extreme Go is one of your best choices.

With a read speed up to 200MB / s and a write speed of up to 150MB / s, this unit can compete with devices like the Lexar JumpDrive P20 and the Patriot Supersonic Rage 2.

Not only does it have incredible performance, but the SanDisk SecureAccess Software, which includes a 128-bit encryption system and password protection, makes it incredibly secure so that no one else can access it.

SanDisk Extreme Go: Performance and technical specifications

One of the key features of Sandisk Extreme Go is performance. It is definitely above average in terms of reading and writing speed. I performed some tests on a PC with Windows 10 with the following specifications …

  • CPU – Intel i5-6500
  • RAM – 8GB
  • SSD – SAMSUNG MZ-75E250B / EU 850 EVO

I tried this unit by transferring many files of different sizes starting from 1GB up to 10GB and I performed some benchmark tests. In the result I obtained an average reading speed of 198 MB / s and a write speed of 141MB / s.

Certainly excellent results compared to competitors like the Lexar JumpDrive P20 which offers a higher reading speed, but a lower write speed. Sandisk Extreme Go, considering its price range, has performed well.

Technical specifications Sandisk Extreme Go:

  • Available cuts: 64 GB – 128 GB
  • Interface – USB 3.1 compatible with USB 2.0
  • Warranty – Limited duration
  • Waterproof, shock and X-ray resistant
  • Weight – 18 grams

Should I buy it?

When it comes to the Sandisk Extreme Go I can only answer: “Yes, it’s absolutely worth buying”. This USB pen offers different cuts so that everyone can find the right one for their needs. It features a 128-bit encryption system and password protection, as well as having excellent performance.

Finally, the SanDisk Go is made with very durable and reliable construction materials. Surely it is not the cheapest storage unit around, but I consider it halfway between the mid and high end. It is a good compromise if you are looking for high quality and high performance, but you don’t want to spend a fortune.

SanDisk Extreme Go: Design

The design is very minimal and classy. I appreciated the simple but robust structure as well as having a hoodless design. In fact it uses a convenient sliding mechanism. Unlike other drives where it is sometimes difficult to slide the end outwards, the Extreme Go maintains a pleasant balance between strength and simplicity.

The USB stick is available in one color only: black with the white writing of “SanDisk” and “USB 3.1”. Like many units, the SandDisk Extreme also has a key hole and a blue LED activity indicator. The USB 3.1 header is always white.

Final considerations

The Sandisk Extreme Go is a great portable storage unit for everyday use. It has a very high reading and writing speed and is pleasant to hold: it conveys a pleasant sensation of strength.

The only “defect” that I can find is the slightly higher price compared to similar competing models (usually, however, they are a little slower). But in any case I recommend spending a handful of euros more for a device that definitely offers greater security and reliability than many competitors.

Don’t forget that it can also protect your files with SecureAccess through a 128 bit encryption system and block the display of files by password.
