It’s here the seventh generation of AMD processors APU updated with Bristol Ridge and Stoney Ridge

Taking advantage of the media focus of Computex 2016, Advanced Micro Devices has announced its seventh generation of APUs. We feel that for them this 2016 is the year of its graphics, rather than processors for computers, but has also been time to update the catalog, both high – end and more affordable.

Two data confirm what AMD’s followers might be waiting: the new FX is 56% faster than the previous generation, while the more affordable range is 52% faster.

In 2017 they will reach important new processors Zen, but for now we are left with these interesting updates – Bristol Ridge and Stoney Ridge – what they had, on the other hand were necessary.

Bristol Ridge, a high-end conservative

Bristol Ridge is a refined version of the Carrizo APU last year, a similar strategy to the one that follows Intel, the people of AMD is getting incremental improvements each year, which are not a revolution, but they are logical developments to the market.

For now we can say that Bristol Ridge have the same design Carrizo but are 20% more powerful, the same CPU “Excavator” the same 28nm manufacturing technology. As for graphics, they are 37% faster than last year’s models.

The faster chips will be sold under the names FX, A12 and A10. While the former is the highest range, the other two want to do with the Core i3 i5 and Intel, respectively. His trick is in the graphic power, serial number, and of course, at a price less than what Intel calls us.

You have details of frequency, integrated graphics and TDP in the above table, but we have to mention that all have DDR4 support up to 2.400MHz (2133MHz in Carrizo).

Stoney Ridge meets Excavator

The most interesting seems that we can find in the most affordable Stoney Ridge, as we now use the same CPUs that the upper range, i.e. designs “Excavator” much better than the “Jaguar” they used so far. Architecture
